Our Thematic Areas

OCAT Uganda reaches and supports communities by implementing six inter-connected thematic areas. Each theme has a strategic goal for community advancement and transformation in Uganda.

Agriculture and Economic Development

Strategic Goal: To improve food and nutrition security, and economic resilience of the rural poor and take on the efforts to mitigate, adapt and address the negative effects of climate change. This is done through the implementation of Climate-smart agricultural projects and encouraging the employment of mitigation strategies, promoting income-generating activities and financial literacy using the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) methodology.

Inclusive Quality Education

Strategic Goal: To contribute towards inclusive equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2040.

Healthy lives and improved well-being for all ages

Strategic Goal: To reduce incidence and prevalence of diseases around Uganda’s essential health packages (including HIV/AIDs, Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Nutrition, MNCH, Malaria, TB, WASH, Food Safety and Aflatoxin management, Social Accountability, pandemics etc).

Gender and Women Empowerment

Strategic Goal: To promote gender equality as well as women’s and girls’ empowerment.

Child Protection and Youth Development

Strategic Goal: To contribute towards creating an enabling environment for all young people to develop to their full potential in order to contribute significantly to personal and sustainable national development in Uganda by 2040.

Policy influence and social accountability

Strategic Goal: To strengthen accountability system at community, district, and national levels to enhance pro-poor effective policy implementation by 2040.
